How Counseling Works

1st Phase

It all begins with the first, quick 15-20 minute conversation over the phone, free of charge, during which we can talk about what your exact emotional & psychological concerns are and we can explore ways counseling can help. Should you decide that it makes sense for us to meet, then we will discuss scheduling and availability, and establish the exact pricing for your therapy sessions.
Prior to our first meeting, I will message you a number of forms to fill out and bring it with you on your first visit. If you are an online therapy client, I will provide you with detailed instructions on how to upload your forms where we will need them.
During our first few sessions, we start by understanding you and the issues you face. What have you tried, whether it worked or not? What do you hope will change? What do you want therapy to look like for you? We use this phase to fine tune what you need and how I can support you along the way.

2nd Phase

During the second phase of therapy, you begin to gain a greater understanding of yourself and the issues you face. The insight and awareness made during this time allows you to realize your own potential.
This is where the real work happens in counseling. Whether you are an individual, couple, or family, we face challenges to create the change you need for your own circumstances. We work together to create solutions based on your own personal strengths and resources. The transformation that occurs during this phase is what allows for long-term success.

Final Phase

Through confidence and a stronger sense of hope, you will be able to utilize your own tools for growth and change. Eventually, you will not require regular sessions. However, the decision to end or to continue therapy is always yours to make. My ongoing goal is to empower you to trust that you can move through your life with a sense of clarity, discernment, flexibility, and well-being.

Loving ourselves through the process of owning our story is the bravest thing we will ever do.
